What identity testing establishes
Identity answers a narrow question: does the measured molecular mass (and, where performed, fragmentation pattern) support the labelled compound?
For peptides and many small molecules, the laboratory measures the protonated or deprotonated molecular ion and compares it to the theoretical mass for the sequence or formula you declared on the order form. Additional MS/MS fragments may be used to support the assignment when the method requires it.
Identity does not prove biological activity, sterility, or freedom from all impurities. It is paired with HPLC purity and net content so you receive a rounded picture of label accuracy for that specific vial.
Samples we commonly see
Research and investigational peptides are handled the same way as other compounds — see peptide testing and our compound guides for examples.
Provide the name and labelled strength exactly as printed on the vial when you order. If the sample is a salt form (for example acetate or trifluoroacetate), note that on the order form or in the optional notes field so the laboratory can interpret mass correctly.
Published certificates may show identity as a numeric mass, a match statement, or both, depending on how Apex Labs Pty Ltd reports that method for the sample type.
How results are delivered
After analysis, you receive a certificate of analysis with a unique test number. If you did not choose a private publication option, the record may appear on published results with a QR code for third-party verification.
QLD Analytical does not sell compounds, does not recommend suppliers, and does not make health claims about any substance. We document what was tested and what the laboratory reported.
Order identity, purity and content together
The standard panel includes mass spectrometry identity, HPLC purity and net content from A$500. Optional priority queueing can be added at checkout; blend, endotoxin and heavy-metals options are coming soon — on enquiry.
